Job Hunt Follies

My journey through Graduate School to earn a Masters of Art in Education. I was on track to become a teacher, but now everything has changed, and I'm on the job hunt with a Bachelor's in Liberal Arts and a Master's in Education with no teaching certificate.

New Year, New Term

I managed to get registered for enough classes to graduate in the spring. It was looking like I was going to have to take two more terms and graduate in August, but if I pass these classes I'll be able to get a degree in May, and then I find a job.

One of the courses I'm taking is Personal and Professional Development, and that's going to be helpful.

Because of scheduling problems, I can't take all of my courses at the U, but I have to go to another institution for one class, Contemporary Issues in Post-Secondary Education. We met on Jan. 5th, then the snow storm hit and the school closed down for the rest of the week. I suppose it's a good thing that we met on that first day, because the course is only ten weeks long and the reader for the class is the size of a phone book. This class will be over in March, and then I'll have to start another class on statistics. That shouldn't be a problem, but the stats course is a three weekend class, Thursday night, Friday night, and all day Saturday. The class starts on March 11, and the CIPE class has it's last paper due on March 15. One of my other two classes aren't meeting that week.

So here's my current schedule:
Mondays 4pm - 7pm CIPE at a different campus.
Wednesday 4pm - 7pm Personal and Professional Development
Wednesday 7pm - 10pm Reading, Literacy, and Cultural Diversity

I'll have that three weekend class starting in March, and I have one more course to finish my research project, which is an entirely different kettle of fish. Since I was kicked out of student teaching I won't have access to students, so I have to change the focus of my paper. I won't meet with my new supervisor until Jan 22, and I have to present something at a conference on Feb 7. That will be a fun week.
